Of course if you’re beer lovers, you should already have heard the name “Kilkenny”. But in this post we’re not referring neither to the famous Irish red beer, nor to the small Irish town situated 1 hour far from Dublin. Of course we’re always dealing with Ireland, but this post is dedicated to the “Kilkenny shop”, in the heart of the Irish capital. It is a great store arranged on two floors, situated in 6 Nassau street since the 1960es; this store only sells “Made in Ireland” products. The idea is to promote and support Irish designers, artists and handicraft (even if in the store you’ll find also some products coming from the most famous international brands). All the products sold in the Kilkenny Shop represent the contemporary version of ancient Irish traditions; in fact the store is strictly linked to Irish design industry and handicraft. So if you want to buy something different from the classic souvenirs, we suggest to have a look at this store: we are sure that you’ll find what you were looking for and you’ll discover a great, varied and mostly unknown local production. You cannot even imagine my astonishment as a fashion design student (Chiara) while discovering all those Irish young talents who are becoming more and more famous in the world of fashion (i.e. Orla Kiely and John Rocha). Moreover, if you want to have a break to eat or drink something, the Kilkenny restaurant/cafe on the 2nd floor of the building is the perfect place: here you can taste typical Irish dishes at affordable prices. So what are you waiting for? Let’s have a look at the Kilkenny Shop in Dublin!"
