When visiting touristic destinations, it’s almost impossible to find a cheap, typical place where to eat and taste local specialties in the city centre. In fact, most of the restaurants and cafes you can find in central areas of European capitals and most visited cities are usually traps for inexperienced tourists. But today we’re going to deal with the exception to this rule: if you end up in a charming city like Valencia, we suggest to write down this address because you won’t be disappointed: 3, Placa dels Cors de la Mare de Deu. It is the address of El Laboratorio, a modern and friendly restaurant and tapas bar, situated in the hearth of Valencia, just behind the cathedral. We guarantee that you’ll fall in love with this lovely place that we’ve discovered by chance while wondering around the city centre; we’ve been attracted by the weird black front door with the multicolour daily menu written on it and our expectations haven’t been disappointed. If you want to describe this place with one word, the most suitable one is “MIX” : a mix of styles, cultures and tastes in a cosy, eccentric place which reproduces a modern kitchen laboratory, with a minimal style (everything is black or white). And food is cheap and really varied: they propose several dishes, typical but also from all over the world (in fact El Laboratorio is often attended by Erasmus students), so we’re sure that you’ll find what you prefer according to your tastes (there are also few vegan and vegetarian dishes). Finally their cocktails are really worth a visit: they’re original and always served with some local tapas. And most of the evenings, you’ll find a themed event. So what are you waiting for? We haven’t resisted to the temptation of a good Valencian paella during a warm autumn night, served with a good artisan beer, and we’ve fallen in love with it! And what about you? Our suggestion is: you cannot absolutely miss this place!
