In senso piacevole naturalmente. Insomma voto 10!
Here we are, we came back from Portugal one week ago and we can say that we literally fell in love with this country! We visited both Porto and Lisbon, two different cities but both associated to the same kindness of the inhabitants, the same cheerful atmosphere and an air of mystery that gives to both these cities a unique charm. But before dealing with the most typical places to see, the best places where to eat and the main phases of our travel, we want to dedicate this post to the 2 structures where we stayed. In fact, we spent our holiday in 2 hostels where we really felt like home and that really surprised us: the Johnies Place in Lisbon and the Antas Ville in Porto. And after experiencing these two structures, we can definitely say that Portugal is really innovative and modern as far as hostels are concerned. When we first arrived in Porto, we stayed at the Antas Ville Guesthouse in the Antas quarter, next to the famous Estadio do Dragão (well-known by football lovers); this is a small, family-run structure, a bit far from the city centre (easily reachable with the underground), recently renovated, situated in Rua da Vigorosa 736. If from the outside you won’t be particularly surprised, we suggest to wait for the inside. In fact in this hostel, with its colours and its cosy atmosphere, you will feel like home. And this is thanks to the attention to details and the familiar atmosphere the owners recreated; simplicity is a key element: about 10 rooms, all ensuite, a nice common room with couches and cable TV, and a small kitchen at your disposal during the whole day. But what really made the difference was the courtesy and friendliness of Ana and Ruben, the owners of the Antas Ville, a young Portuguese couple that made our stay in Porto really nice with a lot of suggestions about where to eat, what to see and what to do in the city. So everything was perfect!

E allora...bejos e buon soggiorno in Portogallo.
And now let’s talk about the Johnies Place, the hostel where we stayed in Lisbon, the second stop of our travel. If your stereotype of hostel is made of big rooms with several bunk beds that look all the same, we can guarantee that at the Johnies Place you will change your mind. It is situated in a quarter called “Graça”, one of the most ancient and typical of the Portuguese capital, and it is much more than a simple hostel. Here you will experience something unique and 100% Portuguese. Situated in an ancient building dating back to the XVII th century, the hostel is something unique in its genre: high stone ceilings, typical azulejos (the typical Portuguese white and blue tiles that you can see outside every Portuguese house), small recesses in the walls where to take a break from your walks around the city... And all that is perfectly mixed with a touch of originality in the furniture, which is young, coloured and ethnic. Moreover, the hostel is equipped with all the possible comfort; it only has few rooms, each one different from the others, a common kitchen, a nice living room where you will relax and meet other travellers...and a great relax area with a hookah included. And what can we say about the staff? Also this time we’ve been welcomed with friendliness and kindness by Ana, a young Portuguese girl, and we really felt like home. What else can we add? The fact that going out the hostel (situated in Calçada da Graça 18), you will find one of the best view points of all the city, the so called “Miradouro da Graça”. So once more, everything was perfect! And what about you? If you’re not 100% convinced, we can just say: the proof of the pudding is in the eating! So now it’s your turn to book a room in one of these two wonderful structures, at great rates! We can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed. And so...beijos and have a great stay in Portugal!
