If you don’t like the cold and you’re tired of the long, rainy, grey winter days, this post is exactly what you need; we’re sure that you will smile again after reading our tips! In fact, we think that the best treatment against winter is sweetness: there is nothing better than the great smell of hot chocolate and biscuits just taken out of the oven. So what are you waiting for? Let’s follow us to discover one of the “sweetest place” in Porto and you won’t regret! With this post, we want to take you in Rua da Flores, one of the most typical streets of the Portuguese city, where all the buildings have flowers on the balconies, according to a local tradition. Walking along this characteristic street, you will end up at n° 121, where it will be impossible to resist to the great aroma coming from the inside! That’s exactly what happened to us when we were there last summer: we ended up at the window of this small and cosy place where we couldn’t resist to all the delicious smells and dishes. That’s why we decided to have a break there after walking and wandering around the city. So let’s note the name of this great place, Chocolataria das Flores, as you can’t miss it if you’re spending a day in Porto. The atmosphere is really easy-going and you will feel at home! A small room with a few tables (both inside and outside) and a fantastic counter with all their specialties in plain view: cakes, chocolate and cookies of every size, colour and shape that will appear everywhere, on the shelves, behind the counter and directly in the shop window. This place is a heap of sweetness and the surplus value is the fact that everything is homemade and prepared with genuine ingredients and loads of love. But now it’s your turn to decide what you will taste. First of all, we suggest their hot chocolate, really delicious; and you can choose among so many flavours like Porto, raspberry, caramel, lime, lavender and much more… everybody will find the flavour that will better suit him/her. Then we also suggest to try some of the great pastry they propose: have a look at all the different cakes, muffins and brownies, all rigorously homemade. Finally, at the fabulous Chocolataria das Flores you can also have lunch with one of their salted menu proposals with toasts, quiches or homemade soups, at great prices. And everything is always served with love and attention for the details and the staff is really friendly. So, what else can we add about this little heaven? If your stomach is already starting to grumble, what are you waiting for? Let’s pack your bags and run to grab one of the few tables. We can assure that you won’t be disappointed!
