Let’s try to imagine a modern and cosmopolitan environment, characterized by a minimal chic style, but situated in a quarter like the Ribeira (in the Portuguese city of Oporto), with a great historical background. If you mix all that with a handful of optical white and meals that are a mixture of Portuguese tradition and international cuisine, you will have the Pimms café, which you cannot absolutely miss once in Oporto! It is situated on the boarder of the new area of Oporto city and the more traditional quarter called La Ribeira, at n°95 Rua Infante Dom Enrique. In fact, the Pimms is a real border between international innovation and Portuguese tradition, with a touch of originality. When you will enter the restaurant, you will be dazzled by the optical white of the furniture in the main room, which is small and minimal and where everything – from the walls to the tables, from the chairs to the dishes – is rigorously white. It is the perfect place to take a break from the colour explosion of the Ribeira quarter (do you remember our post, a few weeks ago?) Moreover, there you will find a unique atmosphere, artistic and innovative at the same time, like the most modern international clubs. And what about food? If you want to taste the traditional Portuguese cuisine, you should have a break at Pimms at lunchtime, when the modern environment of the restaurant is in contrast with the traditional ingredients, colours and tastes of the dishes (for example they serve great fish dishes). While, if you will end up there at dinner, you won’t be disappointed by the “glamour” version of the restaurant: you will find a young clientele and international dishes. But we also suggest to have a break there for the happy hour, especially in spring or summer, when you can sit in the external patio while sipping a good glass of Porto and taste the typical “petiscos” (small typical snacks, similar to the well known Spanish “tapas”), with a great view on the Sao Francisco church. How will you recognize the restaurant? Don’t worry, there’s nothing easier: you should just identify the huge graffiti on the lateral façade of the restaurant! In fact, there is nothing better than a metaphor like “a blank canvas waiting to be painted” to describe this modern and innovative place. So what are you waiting for? Let’s have a look at the Pimms in Oporto and then let us know what do you think about it!
